How to prevent Car Sick/ Motion Sickness? 如何避免動暈病/暈車?

首先暈車和眩暈是不同的, 兩者都會頭暈可是前者是乘坐交通工具的時候才會發生, 後者平常也會。

First of all Motion sickness is different from vertigo, both conditions will make people dizzy and nausea, but motion sickness will only occur while in motion, vertigo does not need to.

暈車是個十分常見的現象, 男女老少都可能發生, 當乘坐交通工具的時候如果搖晃太過有人會有疲勞, 頭暈或嘔吐的現象, 如果不嚴重也不常發生的話算是正常反應。

Motion sickness is very common, regardless age and gender. Whenever a person travel inside a vehicle, if it shake too much can lead to tiredness, dizziness and nausea.

這篇文章雖然是針對特別容易暈車的人所寫, 相對正常的人也可以學習且使用其中的方法避免暈車。

This article is for those who is easier to suffer motion sickness than other people, and it can also be use to for everyone who want to avoid motion sickness.

為甚麼我比別人容易暈車呢?

Why do I get car sick so easily?

就筆者恩師所傳授以及親身的行醫經驗, 容易暈車的朋友大多數脾胃功能不好, 很多平常吃飯速度過快, 飲食不節制,造成消化問題比如說胃反酸最常見。 在中醫的思維中我們說這種人胃腸中有水飲。

Base on my teacher’s teaching and my own experience in the medical field, people easily suffer motion sickness mostly have abnormal digestion system due to bad eating habits, such as eating too fast. Many of these folks suffer medical conditions in the digestion system such as acid reflux. In the Chinese medicine we said these people have water waste in their digestion system.

“水飲”: 人體水液運行輸布失常,水停為飲,水飲聚積於機體胸腹、胃腸、或四肢等不同部位所出現的一系列症狀的總稱。

Water waste in TCM indicates the liquid essence in human body was not processed normally and stay in different part of the digestion system, and lead to a series of discomforts.

想像一下, 如果你的腸胃中有一團黏稠的液體存在, 平常還好可是在消化食物的時候腸胃擩動這團東西就會不斷的刺激著周圍的消化系統, 嚴重甚至造成胃酸逆流, 局部疼痛或者嘔吐。 中醫認為胃經的氣應該往下走, 上述現象都是胃氣走反了往上衝, 造成人體的不適。

Try to image a bunch of sticky mucus-like things locate in your intestine and stomach. Those things would stimulate the surrounding organs as your body is busy digesting the food, and worse when your body is moving in motion with the vehicle.

我該怎麼做? What Should I do?

上策: 找內科專精的中醫師以藥物針灸調理, 更重要的是要改變飲食習慣, 細嚼慢嚥來讓身體慢慢的把痰濕化掉。

  1. Find a TCM doctor specialized in internal medicine and use acupuncture or herb to help the body to process these water waste.

中策: 上策要一段時間, 如果已經要出行…

The first strategy will require some time of course, if you are about to travel, then let’s move to number 2.

預防動暈症狀準則: 盡量保持空腹

2. To prevent car sick:  Try to keep an empty stomach while travel

1.   出發前1~2 鐘頭不要吃飯飲水

One to two hours before departure do not eat or drink anything

2.   旅程中如果肚子很餓只能吃一點點乾食

If you feel really hungry on the car/plane, please eat only a little dry food – bread, cookie..etc.  But eat very slowly and chew many times.

3.   旅程中在肚臍貼個東西保暖, 有點溫溫的更好

When in motion, place something warm to cover his/her belly button

如果是長途旅程必須要途中吃喝請記住-少量多餐, 細嚼慢嚥, 口渴漱口, 盡量在到達後再進食喝水。

In a long road trip, you would need to eat and drink before getting to the destination. The trick is to plan multiple stops and eat and drink lightly each time. Remember the goal is not to satisfy your appetite, however it’s to not starve or too thirsty on the way. If you feel very thirsty on the car or plane, it’s better to rinse your mouth with water. then spit it out .

下策就是靠吃西藥控制, 但是效果未必好更有長期副作用。

其他常見避免準則:

Focusing the eyes on objects straight ahead may help. Avoid overeating, alcohol and smoking before travel.
